A stylistic study of the deviant youth cultures of the 1980s and 1990s. Counter cultures that run against the grain of conventional society, they confront the darker side of desire with their illicit use of drugs and alcohol, promiscuity and occasional violence. Balking at contemporary stereotypes of beauty then embodied in super models like Cindy Crawford and Claudier Schiffer, they worship androgyny, dark eye makeup, pale skin and equally unorthodox fashion.

They paint themselves with a cheery mask and pretend everything is ok, but its all a lie. I have always been wondering, why do clowns make people laugh when in fact their faces are always terribly scary and inevitably sad. Even the smiling ones are sad, in fact those laughing face make-ups are sad-er as every muscle on their faces seemed to be uncomfortably stretched to to form that ugly smile.
